The missing "blind spot" for BB is also customer service...it's bad and Netflix is great in all of the BB blind bad spots. Defective DVD? At BB, "what did YOU do to it?" At Netflix "we are getting a replacement right out to you." A charge from BB for a DVD you returned but they can't find?...well good luck because they believe you are a liar and a thief. At Netflix, no problem...we will credit your account.
I probably would have thrown it in the bag where it would have gone in the trash when the bag of bagels was empty except I had a professional interest in looking closer...there was a little Facebook icon on the back and an invitation to become a fan on Facebook.
In my opinion....the Facebook icon was a lost opportunity. How much more effective the whole thing would have been if the server had known a little bit about the bagel punch card and asked me if I wanted to participate plus even if I had said no, she could have asked me if I was a Facebook fan and if I was enticed me with an extra punch. If I wasn't a fan, maybe an extra bagel right then if I said I would become a fan.The punch card is a loyalty/reward vehicle...Facebook can do that too. Or it needs to do something, doesn't it? WHY should I become a fan on Facebook Einstein?
Over the weekend, Facebook announces that boxes (which I always thought was an odd name for what it was) are going away. Richard MacManus @ ReadWriteWeb explains it here.
Richard and Marshall Kirkpatrick are doing an awesome job keeping up with the Facebook announcements da jour and providing interpretation and analysis.

Social Media, Web Design, and Serving Social Training. Our menu of services is on this page. We are intentionally limiting our Serving Social clients to restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops and all other establishments that serve food ans drink to paying customers. We think that the restaurant business embodies just about everything that we love about what we do….creating kick ass web and program designs that aren’t about us, but about you.
We aren’t offering templates or websites that are included for free if you buy a lifetime subscription to a delivery service or gift certificate package…..you have to fill out at least enough of our client intake form so that we both understand what your are trying to accomplish and what you are serving…whether it’s a simple Facebook page or a new web design we use your ingredients, prepared to order, remixed till extraordinary. YUM!
